P3 & P4: Planning the media product
P3: Brief, target audience, synopsis, annotated concept art(sketches)
Mind map of original ideas:

This is a concept for a background that I created on photoshop. This will be used as a part of the setting in the short film. The colours will be bold and bright and each thing will contain outlines to ensure children are watching as I want the correct audience to watch.
For unit 2, I learnt to create concept art before production as it is important to have visualisation of characters and location as it can be changed later on during production.
Also in unit 2, we learnt to create production schedules and Gantt charts, which are used to track the progression of work and make sure I am hitting deadlines.
Also, on my unit 2 exam I had to compare a SWOT analysis to highlight the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of a media product, which I used for unit 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20.
Annotated sketches:

I created these planets in photoshop using tools such a shape tool, brush, gradient and blur/smudge tool. I had to consider legal and ethical issues of creation as I had to make sure they were my own designs as well as considering my target audience and ensuring it was suitable. The reason I changed the animation style was because it was less time consuming then doing frame by frame.
After I have looked at the brief, I have chosen to target my animation at children aged 3-10 years old, of any gender and ethnicity. I chose this audience because my animation is a cartoon that will use bright colours and have little spoken words, which is a convention of other cartoons. I need to make sure my animation is ethically and legally correct if I want to aim at children, such as have 0 adult content, and making sure it is not irresponsible as I don't want children trying to copy and stunts or images in my animation. I am choosing to aim at all genders and ethnicities so I have a broader audience and it appeals to all. The animation will be entertaining as it shows a fictional character taking off into space. I want to make the animation simple as my animation is 2D and I want to ensure it attracts to children. The client brief wants me to use the same colours and styles of font as the Club Europe website, which I will use to make my animation more attractive to children. The animation will contain themes that other children animations use as going to space is fun and adventurous for children. The animation will be aimed at all genders as there will not be any scenes where gender is specifie;d nor will it be addressed. This allows me to aim at a much wider audience while also ensuring I keep the animation relevant and aimed at young people as they wouldn't be as opinionated as older people.
As my animation doesnt contain any speaking or sound i didnt require a script. However if i had included a speaking character made in Adobe charcter then i would need a script before i create the animation.
P4: Storyboards, Gantt chart, contingencies
Gantt Chart
Contingencies
I will use a back-up contingency plan if at any point there is an event in which I cannot stick to my schedule. A contingency is used to show extra time you may need to allow yourself if you have to go longer than originally planned. This is useful as it helps you plan wisely and doesn't leave you behind schedule
Synopsis
My animation will be a rocket launch that will fly through space and land on Mars. My animation will be aimed at children and toddlers aged 3-10 and I will do this by using bright colours such as red and blue. I will use bold fonts in the animation that will be easily readable and will be attractive to children. My animation will be at least 2 minutes and will include a take-off, an adventure throughout space and landing and exploring Mars.
